LISTEN TO OUR STORY

We are both half Filipinos on a quest, searching for a link to our roots. From talking with Filipinos across Vancouver, we hope to reconnect, and if not at least gain a deeper appreciation and a greater understanding of our culture.

Growing up in Canada, we feel as though we’ve lost the sense of traditional practices as we feel the pressure to adopt a westernized way of living.

We want to know what fellow Filipinos are going through. Do other people feel the same way? Will our culture diminish after a few generations?

ABOUT US

PRODUCERS

Aiya Benaso

I'm Aiya Benaso, born in Angeles City, Philippines and raised in Vancouver, Canada.

I am a first year journalism student at BCIT. Producing and hosting a show is my ultimate dream. Having the platform to share different stories and taking people on a journey through videos is what I hope to do. Being able to transport my audience to new places and teaching them things they would usually not have known is my goal.

My aim is to gather information in a new, enticing and exciting take while staying balanced, accurate and fair through news stories, documentaries, media posts, photography and other factual outlets.

My comprehensive and hands-on education combined with my ongoing practical experience in the field will hopefully carry me to my goals. As a student it is my dream to work in the industry of broadcast television. I want to make a lasting impact on peoples lives!
